A trilling experience of being burried …
It was a remarkable experience for me and my friends to try the sand hot spring for the first time.
As we know, Japan is well-known for onsen (Hot spring) as the country has many active volcanos. Unlike other prefectures in Kyushu Island, onsen in Kagoshima prefecture is unique and different, where vistors do not deep themselves into hot water. Instead of, people are burried with valcanically heated black sand. This is called as sand onsen or in Japanese it is called as Sunamushi (砂むし).
Last spring a group of seven Malaysians, including myself visited Kagoshima prefecture. We took this opputunity to try the Kagoshima famous sand onsen. From Kagoshima–Chuo station, we took the rapid train (approximately 50min) to a town called Ibusuki, where the sand onsen is located.

Saga is one of prefecture in the northern part of Kyushu Island. Beautiful nature, wealth of history and festivals are some attractions that Saga could offer not only to local but also international visitors. Saga is located 2 hours from Fukuoka city by car or train. I have been to Saga for few times but I still enchanted with its local attractions.

Takachiho Gorge: A beauty after a Disas…
My first trip with my friends in Kyushu was to Takachiho Gorge. Takachiho Gorge located in Miyazaki prefecture, about 200km from Fukuoka city. It took about three hours driving using Kyushu Expressway and Kumamoto Higashi Bypass. Visitors from Hakata or Fukuoka can take JR Limeted Express Nishirin line to Nobeoka and then take Takachiho Railway. However, it is recommended to use your own transportation, for example rental car which will make your travel much convenient.
