I had my trip with my friends during stressful time of our studying in Japan for two days and one night. We agreed to travel around some places in Kyushu Island. Our choice came down to Moji district (門司区), Beppu city (別府市) and Yufuin district (湯布院町). We started our trip by taking 3-days pass of JR Kyushu railway in Hakata station, Fukuoka City.

It took around one hour to reach JR Mojiko Station. Moji district or can be said as a retro town in Japanese means "Moji Port". Moji district is located in the northern part of Kitakyushu City. There are many places in Moji we can visit, such as Kyushu Railway History Museum, Old Moji Mitsui Club, Kaikyo Plaza, and Mojiko Retro High Mart.

In my opinion, best places in Mojiko that I visited are Kyushu Railway History Museum and Mojiko Retro High Mart. The Kyushu Railway History Museum is Kyushu Railway’s former main office, with various items such as trains and equipment previously used in service.

The museum is also full of the history and culture of Kyushu Railway. Moreover, Mojiko Retro High Mart has the best 360 degree panoramic view to see Moji district from above. From many trip advisor, it’s wonderful to see Moji district from the top of the high mart at night time.

However, due to lack of time I could not experience to stroll on pedestrian drawbridge Blue Wing Moji. My friend and I have to leave Moji district to the next destination, which is Beppu city in Oita prefecture. As many people know, Oita prefecture is famous for its natural hot springs. Not only hot water baths, there are many types of bath offered in Beppu which are sand baths, steam baths, and mud baths.

Unfortunately, I did not try any of the baths type. I only did normal hot water baths in the hotel we stay Beppu Fujikan Hotel. However, it was really great and enjoyable. Hot springs in the hotel provided new experience for me. Not only had I enjoyed bath time, also able to view scenery of city from the top of the hotel. The location of hot spring allowed me to enjoy the city view, especially at night.

The next day, we checked out from the hotel in the early morning and visited the "hells" (地獄, jigoku) of Beppu. Beppu hells tourism sight which consists of eight spectacular hot springs for viewing. It was really beautiful to look different types of hot springs.

Afterward, we took train back to Fukuoka via Yufuin district. From Yufuin we took express train with European style called The Yufuin no Mori.
