The Takachiho area is known as a power spot where many come seeking benefits and is where the "Takashicho Gourge", eroded by tens of thousands of years of river coursing through it, is located as is the "Amano Iwato Shrine", where legend says the Sun Goddess descended from Heaven. Take a rowboat and enjoy the view of the renowned "Manai no Taki" waterfall with its 17-meter drop. The coastal road in the southern part of the prefecture is referred to as a phoenix, having a tropical air to it, and is the perfect place for a drive. Local gourmet dishes such as Chicken Nanban, "Miyazaki Jitokko Chicken", and mangoes are an absolute must.
