Kumamoto Prefecture has some of the most outstanding views in Kyushu, such as the dynamic view of the volcano "Mt. Aso" that has erupted repeatedly; "Kumamoto Castle" ranked as one of the three major castles in Japan; and the "Five Bridges of Amagusa", a ride over which gives the sensation of running on top of the sea. Aso is a leisure spot where you can experience the grandeur of nature and there are other activities to choose from such as "rafting down the Kuma River" known for being one of the three major rapids in Japan, or watching dolphins at Amagusa. Be sure to also try the local delicacy of raw horse meat dishes and visit popular hot springs such as the Kurokawa Hot Spring.
