Experiencing the Magnificence of Nature

You will certainly be impressed by workings of the earth and lose all sense of time, surrounded by the majestic natural landscapes of mountains and seas.
The panoramic view of the world’s largest caldera, as seen from Aso-Daikanbo, is simply overwhelming. You’ll be speechless before the power and beauty of the earth, as demonstrated by the volcanic island Sakurajima, which still emits much smoke, Takachiho Gorge where you can go on a boating excursion, and the fantastic sea of clouds seen from the gorge in the north of Miyazaki Prefecture.
The Nichinan Coast National Park is 110 kilometers long, from Aoshima Island to Cape Toi. Oni-no-Sentakuita (Ogre's Washboard) is the only place in Japan where you can see wavelike rocks. The Kujuku Islands consist of 208 islands scattered over the sea, spanning the area just outside Sasebo Port all the way to Hirado Seto. Amakusa's western coastline is famous for its beautiful sunsets. Niji-no-Matsubara, where sandy shores and pine forests spread out for distances of up to 5 kilometers, is considered one of the three most beautiful pine forests in Japan. Yakushima is a mystic island thick with Yaku cedars thousands of years old. Approximately 20 percent of its forest has been registered as a World Natural Heritage site. There are numerous exquisite views that bring home the greatness of nature, including the semitropical Amami-Oshima, home to unique wildlife.
