Advance city of environmental study in Kyushu ~Kitakyushu version

Kitakyushu city is in the utmost northern part of Kyushu, and developed to be an industrial city in the beginning of 20 century.

But after 1960, influences to environment and to the human body caused by pollution, became a very big social problem.

Afterwards, from the efforts of the citizens and goEvernment officials, Kitakyushu city overcame the pollution problem and up until now, the city have been awarded three times by UN. What's more in 2002 , "World summit meeting concerning sustainable development" UN introduced Kitakyushu as an model example of a city that have made advanced environmental improvements.

By reflecting the mistakes of the past, Kitakyushu city have continued to give strong effort towards environment, and opened "Environment Museum" which from children to adults can enjoy.

Exhibition room is divided into 5 zones, zone showing overcoming of pollution in  Kitakyushu city, a zone for environmental problems of the world, and another zone showing technology of environment and echo life. The museum staff will assist you and explain the display items kindly.

To see the whole museum, it takes about 30 minutes~1 hour. Why don't you come and think about environment at northern gateway of Kyushu, Kitakyushu city.
