MIYAZAKI | KAGOSHIMA

Drain the Cup of Pleasure!Seaside Course

Filled with a high number of renowned onsen spots, Kyushu is a popular destination for many looking to douse in a high quality hot spring.
For that, we came up with this course taking you through highly sought-after onsen destinations of Kumamoto and Oita. Enjoy both the delicious cuisines and the beautifying hot spring baths only these places can offer.

Route

Day 1:

(1) 10:00am A quick tour through Miyazaki City & to a spiritual place.
↓ Approx. 5 min by car.
(2) 1:00pm Onsen at Seagaia & relax at the spa.
↓ Approx. 30 min by car.
(3) 4:00pm Drive on the coastline
Stay overnight in Aoshima, Miyazaki Prefecture.

Day 2:

(4) 7:00am Horikiri Pass. Get up early and see the sunrise at Horikiri Pass.
↓ Approx. 40 min by car.
(5) 11:00am Lunch time. Sightseeing in Aburatsu and local specialty fish udon.
↓ Approx. 15 min by car.
(6) 3:00pm A snack time. Mango in Nango
(7) 4:00pm To Toimisaki, where wild horses roam.
Stay overnight in Toimisaki, Miyazaki Prefecture.

Day 3:

(8) 10:30am Observe Japanese amberjack farming & kanpachi bowl of rice with Japanese amberjack.
↓ Approx. 15 min by car & Approx. 40 min by ferry
(9) 12:30pm Experience sand bath in Ibusuki!
↓ Approx. 15 min by car.
(10) Drive around in Ibusuki

START (MIYAZAKI)

Take a flight to Miyazaki, where we begin this course.
Hop in a rent-a-car and head toward Miyazaki Town for about 15 minutes.

Day 1

The first day is a slow start. Enjoy the spa and onsen before our road trip.

Eda Shrine
First, a quick tour through Miyazaki City and its nearby spiritual places.
Known for its mythology, Miyazaki has several shrines believed to have a supernatural power. For lunch, local specialty chicken nanban and kamaage udon are popular recommendation.

Day 2 7:00am START

Proceed down south on the Nichinan Seacoast, and get down to the southernmost point of Miyazaki Prefecture en route various beach spots along the way.

Fish udon
See the streets of Aburatsu and enjoy a bowl of fish udon.
For lunch, head to Aburatsu, which had prospered with sugi Japanese cedar industry and tuna fishery in the past, for a bowl of fish udon made of minced fish meat. The nice texture is what makes this dish so special.

Day 3 9:30am START

With Miyazaki behind us, let's head toward Kagoshima Bay. Take the ferry to reach the other side, and enjoy a sand bath.

10:30am It's Kagoshima from here on out.

A bowl of rice with Japanese amberjack
Go see a Japanese amberjack farming, and go have a kanpachi-don, a bowl of rice topped with Japanese amberjack.
Tarumizu region is known for amberjack farming. The scene of that is visible from the city port. Now that you are here, you might as well enjoy a bowl of this extravagant specialty!

Nagasakibana Parking Garden
Ibusuki is full of attractions as well! Utilize your time by taking the car.
Take the ferry to Ibusuki from Oonejime, south of Tarumizu. Jump in the sand bath, and then go on a little drive. There is a ton of things to see around here as well!
