KITAHARA HAKUSHU BIRTHPLACE AND MEMORIAL HALL

Hakushu Kitahara is one of the Japanese poets representing modern Japan who was active from Meiji era to the beginning of Showa era. Although his family used to be a seafood purveyor to the Yanagawa clan, in his father’s generation, it became one of the most succeeded Japanese sake business in Yanagawa region. Though his birthplace was mostly burnt down in 1901, it was reconstructed and now lots of his works and mementos are being displayed.
