Just 5 kilometers (3 miles) from Fukuoka City’s Tenjin (the largest business and entertainment district in Kyushu), the Hakata Hot Springs pride themselves on their high temperatures (between 44 and 49 degrees Celsius [Fahrenheit]) and abundant waters. Scattered over a roughly one kilometer (less than one mile) radius, they are the city’s “hidden” hot springs. Of the four bathing spots, two are traditional Japanese inns and can accomodate lodgers while the others are for day-trippers. Guests at the inns can delight their tastebuds with the catch of the day from the Genkai sea and Hakata’s famous “mizutaki” (chicken and vegetable hot pot)! *Inquire directly with inns about availability.
