IBUSUKI

Ibusuki is a town found on the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture. The town itself is famous for sand baths where people may be buried in naturally heated sand for relaxation and health benefits. There are a number of hotels and facilities which provide sand bath experiences, but perhaps the most popular is the Saraku Sand Bath Hill located a kilometre from Ibusuki Station. Guests are provided with yukata robes and will then be buried in the sand by staff members. Usually only 10 to 20 minutes is needed before guests may wish to wash off the sand in traditional hot spring baths. Ibusuki also features the Satsuma Denshokan Museum, and you can also enjoy outdoor baths at Healthy Land. Nearby at Nagasaki-bana one can find the Ryugu Shrine with views onto the ocean and Mount Kaimondake.
