Located in Hirado, the first town in Japan to trade with Western countries. The three greatest delicacies in Hirado--Hirame (Bastard halibut), Uchiwaebi (Ibacus ciliatus) and Hirado Beef—as served at each of the inns, are excellent.
Ureshino Onsen
This traditional hot-spring area has a long history. You can enjoy various kinds of unique baths, including an open-air bath along the river and a green-tea bath.
Castella (Portuguese Cake)
Soft and pleasant to the taste, this treat is a classic Nagasaki souvenir. The traditional taste was introduced to the town people by Portuguese in the early Edo era.
Yoshinogari Historical Park
Ancient moat-encircled settlements. You can experience the ancient atmosphere with restored monomi yagura (watchtower) and pit dwellings.
