Nagasaki, Unzen, Amakusa Area

The Nagasaki/Unzen/Amakusa area is a must-see, including the town and its exotic culture, which has been heavily influenced by the West. The views here are especially beautiful.

Nagasaki is an international crossroads, renowned for its Oura Catholic Church, Peace Park, Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, etc. The night view from Mt. Inasa is one of the best in Japan. Unzen is international too, having been developed as a summer resort for visitors from abroad. Christian churches and historic sites are scattered throughout Amakusa, and are enhanced by the gorgeous views.

A festival held in Suwa Shrine in Nagasaki City. Each year five to seven towns are designated as odoricho (dance towns), and people from those towns perform the "Hono-Odori (Dedication Dance)."
