Hakata, KitaKyushu Area

The largest market area in Kyushu, this is the central place in Kyushu where you can enjoy the latest Japanese trends in shopping, dining and entertainment.
You can enjoy various city sightseeing tours in places such as the largest downtown area in Kyushu, the bay area along the Port of Hakata, and the Space World theme park. In addition to notable sites such as Mojiko Retro Town and Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, this area has many cultural sites such as the Kyushu National Museum.

Space World
A theme park reflecting the image of the universe. Here you can experience space as something close to you, thanks to the many "space experience" attractions.
Canal City Hakata
A futuristic city with a 13-screen movie complex, shopping complex, hotels, etc., it offers a huge variety of attractions and fun activities, all in one place.
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
This shrine celebrates the god of learning, and is the chief Tenmangu shrine in Japan. It's also an ideal place to enjoy seasonal views, including plum blossoms and irises.
Kyushu National Museum
The gallery space called "Ajippa" is also a place of interest where you can experience the lifestyles of countries with which Japan has had contact in its historical past.
Yatai (Hakata)
A typical nightspot in Hakata. There are various cozy food stands offering ramen, gyoza, oden, yakimono, tempura and others.
Karashi Mentaiko
Karashi Mentaiko was invented by macerating cod eggs in a liquid with red peppers, as in Korean-style cuisine. It's very popular throughout Japan.
Futsukaichi Onsen
This, the oldest hot-spring town in Kyushu, is said to have been found through a prophecy made by Yakushi Nyorai (Bhaisajyaguru). It can also be found in "Man'yo-shu' (Collection of a Myriad Leaves)."
Wakita Onsen
A hot-spring area along the limpid Inunaki River. Here you'll find long, flagstone streets in a quiet environment, and in early summer watch the fireflies dance in the evening.
Mojiko Retro
A nostalgic atmosphere and exquisite views of natural waterfront can be enjoyed in "Mojiko Retro."
